Comparison of the Reaction Time and Attack Accuracy of Teenage Fencing Players in Different Levels

碩士 === 國立體育大學 === 教練研究所 === 97 === The purpose of this research was to probe the relationship between reaction time and attack accuracy of outstanding teen-aged fencing players and regular fencing players. The test subjects were the top eight ranking players in the Individual category of the 2007 National Junior High School Fencing Tournament (the 66 students comprised 34 junior high school students and 32 senior high school students) classified into an Elite Group (1-3 students) and a Regular Group (5-8 students). The research tools included New Test Reactant, human target, and fencing tournament facilities. The data obtained was processed and analyzed using SPSS for Windows 12.0 and an Independent Samples t-Test was conducted to compare the differences between the reaction time and attack accuracy of the Elite Group and Regular Group. Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient was adopted to analyze the correlation among the sports performance, simple reaction time, choice reaction time, simple reaction attack accuracy, and choice reaction attack accuracy. Result findings show that outstanding junior high school fencing players’ simple reaction time and choice reaction time were significantly faster than those of regular fencing players and outstanding senior high school fencing players’ simple reaction attack accuracy and choice reaction attack accuracy were significantly faster than those of regular fencing players. For junior high school players, sports performance correlated significantly with reaction time and attack accuracy. For senior high school students, sports performance only correlated significantly with attack accuracy. The juniors’ overall performance showed a similar trend to that of senior high school players. It is therefore inferred from the experimental results that the fast reaction time, high accuracy, and high distinctive competence in terms of sports performance teenage fencing players demonstrate closely relates to their level of sports performance. The results above are expected to serve as a reference for junior talent selection and training course arrangement.
