Method: Twelve elite college level judo players were recruited for the study. Three trials for these two trainings were captured with MotionAnalysis system (8 Eagle cameras were used) at 100Hz. Data processing was used by the function “Data Process” built-in EVaRT 4.65 program, including completing the trajectories of markers, using Butterworth Filter(cutoff-frequency: 8Hz) and finally outputting the raw data into Matlab program for calculating the kinematic parameters(maximum displacement, max angular displacement, peak velocity and peak angular velocity). Statistics: The differences of kinematic parameters between these two training types during different phases (kuzushi, tzukuri and kake stage) were tested for statistical significance by paired-samples t-test, and the relationship of maximum angular displacement between these two training types during different phases were tested by Pearson product moment correlation by SPSS 12.0 program, significant level=.05. Result: The end of kake stage in partner throw was decided by the instant of uke falling on the ground; therefore the duration of this stage in partner throw training was longer than that in elastic straps training. The kinematic parameters in kuzushi and tzukuri phase between these two trainings were more similar, but there were more kinematic differences (p<.05) in kake stage between two kinds of training. The correlation analysis of max angular displacement revealed significant positive relationship (p<.05) in right knee joint angle during kuzushi phase, in lower limbs joint angle and trunk flexion/extension during tzukuri phase. Conculsion: During kake phase, the statistical differences of kinematic characteristics may be due to the direction of external force in these two trainings. Suggestion: In elastic straps training, three movements should be noticed: 1) the radial flexion of right hand in kuzushi stage. 2) clipping arm in tzukuri stage. 3) lifting hip in kake stage.
