The researcher adopted questionnaire investigation as research method. The questionnaire consisted of three parts: (1) personal information, (2) lifestyle scale and (3) recreational sport participation. The objects of this study were teachers of public and private elementary schools in Taoyuan City. By using delaminate percentage sampling, this study sent out 1018 questionnaire, effectively retrieved 937, and retrieval percentage is 92.04%. Descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffé method and Pearson’s product moment correlation were used for the major statistical techniques. The conclusion of this study were: (1) The lifestyles of teachers can be classified into the following categories in the order from the most significant one: “Family centered type”, “Knowledge and artistic type”, “Active entertaining type”, “Sport and health type” and “Popular fashion type”. (2) On average, most teachers participated in recreational sports 1 time per week, most of the duration of doing each recreational sport was above 51 minutes and sport intensity were relaxed. “Outdoor Activities”, “Ballgames” and “Exercises” were the most frequent recreational sport participation types. (3) Teachers with different background (sex, age, marriage state, position and children’s state) showed significant variance in their lifestyles. (4) Teachers with different background (sex, position and children’s state) showed significant variance in the degree of their recreational sport participation. Teachers with different background (sex, age, marriage state, position and children’s state) showed significant variance in the type of their recreational sport participation. (5) “Sport and health type”, “Active entertaining type” and the degree of recreational sport participation were positive correlation. “Knowledge and artistic type” and the degree of recreational sport participation were negative correlation. “Family centered type”, “Active entertaining type”, “Sport and health type”, “Popular fashion type” and the type of recreational sport participation were positive correlation. “Knowledge and artistic type” and the type of recreational sport participation were negative correlation. Based on the findings of this study, some suggestions are proposed for educational organizations, leisure industries, and for researchers interested in doing further studies on this subject.
