Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺中教育大學 === 教育測驗統計研究所 === 98 === The purpose of this research was to construct an assessment tool to effectively evaluate the barriers to children’s ability to hand movements. Also, we will discuss the difference in hand movements between exceptional children and general children. The objectives of this research were to prepare an assessment test for the study of the obstacle to the capacity of hand movements in children, to examine the answering pattern of children in behavioral disorders and the performance of same-aged children in regular class, and to provide teachers simple indicators to identify the exceptional children. The subjects included 53 boys and 37 girls. They were first to second graders in an elementary school as well as the children in mentally retarded classes and special education classes. This experiment applied the self-made assessment test in evaluating the barriers to functional hand movements. The research concluded: 1. This assessment test in evaluating the barriers to functional hand movements carried good reliability and validity. 2. Answering twenty questions regarding the capacity of hand movements, all students performed the worst in drawing the spiral path while they could draw simple straight line nearly perfectly. 3. The result of the assessment indicated the performance of hearing-impaired children and the children with learning disabilities had no significant difference compared with the performance of general children. 4. Mentally retarded children and the children with multiple disabilities were the worst two experimental groups in the performance of the assessment. In short, the research demonstrated that the assessment test in evaluating the barriers to functional hand movements was relevant to the extent of the disability in children. Therefore, we suggested teachers to apply this assessment at the first day of school to identify the potential emotional and behavioral disorder in children.
