Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣師範大學 === 美術學系在職進修碩士班 === 97 === In the five decades after the Second World War, the painters in Occidental styles at Taiwan,, in the rapid alterations of artistic trends, were stimulated by various foreign artistic trends. Namely, they accepted European traditions, absorbed Oriental painting arts as well as American contemporary ideas, and insisted on the traditional functions of painting of the former URSS and China. All this sophisticated and enormous artistic information affected at the same time at the arts of Taiwan, making them pluralist and sophisticated. Due to this, through the artistic theories, histories and painting creation, I intended to study the realistic, naturalist and impressionist works of France with “labourers” as subject, trying to analyze and compare them with the present state of life of Taiwanese labourers as my topic, thus finished a series of works named “Labourers”. By way of this study, I wish to comprehend the artistic, social and esthetic characters of the painting with labourers as subject. The main point of this study is, thus, to investigate the artistic languages of the labourers, including the very subjects, contents and forms, and to express my observations of the unique style of life of the labourers at Taiwan. I put as my contents the life of both farmers and fishermen, their modest features, together with the land itself, with which I am so acquainted, and reorganized the images of these figures, having tried to transform the abstract and complicated emotions of these figures in concrete expression. I also made a feature of the close relationships between the human beings and the Nature, especially the land. Through this study, I hope to set and make clearer the orientation of the creation of my works of art. The structure of this thesis is then composed of six chapters. Here are their respective summaries. Chapter I: Preface The preface narrates the motivation, the purposes, the contents, and the methods of my creation. Chapter II: Research of the subject and the idea of the creation: This chapter makes mainly a research of the significance of the term “labourer” and its context and esthetic characters in the Occidental arts. Chapter III: Theoretic bases: relationship between the very labourers and their esthetics Here the relationship between the realistic style of painting and the topic of laboureres will be investigated. The reason why the images of labourers in diverse generations and societies could be objects of the painting will be presented. The symbols of the working heroes will also be touched by contrasting their differences in countries and in cities. Chapter IV: Forms and topic of the creation: In my own opinion, I try to explain my forms and topic of the creation. I have used the combination of the single-coloured background and the features of the figures of interest, to analyze how painters of this generation make up their painting of living and static pictures, and thus manifest the diligence of the labourers and their optimist way of life. By putting forward the images of the working heroes who appeared in my daily life and in my memories, I will also investigate the spirit of diligence of Taiwan and the morality of respecting the God. Chapter V: Illustration of the creations: The works of art here presented will be illustrated one by one. Chapter VI: Conclusion What I gained from the creation and my prospect of the painting will be related here.
