The proposed antenna utilizes the advantages of the microstrip line to simplify the structure with the integrated circuits. It also conformed to the requests of many consumer products and communication facilities that concerned with easy manufacture, light weight, low cost and small size. First, an open slot antenna (3.7 ~ 5.9 GHz) with small size design for WLAN application is constructed. The size and shape of the slot that couple with the ground plane is then modified to excite the lower band; a dual-band design of the open slot antenna is obtained for WLAN application in the 2.4/5GHz bands.
