Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺北教育大學 === 教育事業創新經營碩士學位在職進修專班 === 97 === This research aimed to improve the “Get to know the world” curriculum developed by the Education department of Taoyuan County Government. With three years experience in teaching the “Get to know the world” curriculum to her lower grade students, the researcher realized the curriculum had drawbacks. The researcher reviewed literatures on global education and the grade 1-9 curriculum guideline, contemplated on her second grade students’ foreign culture experiences to develop a global education project titled ”Kaleidoscope of Asian cultures”. The project lead students to understand the cultures on traditional clothing, festival activities and customs during their progress of growing up in six Asian countries, i.e., Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia and Philippine. The effect of this project on knowledge, skills and participation was investigated.
This study adopted action research approach. The participants were the researcher’s home room students, a total of 28 second graders. During the second semester of 2008 academic year, the researcher conducted 20 courses and collected data through tests, classroom observations, interviews of students, students’ worksheets. The researcher constantly reflected upon her instructional design and teaching practice in order to attract students’ interests and increase their learning effect. Three major research findings were as follows.
1.The systematic approach instructional design model provided a clear and concrete framework to develop the ”Kaleidoscope of Asian cultures” global education instructional project.
2.Students’ knowledge on Asian cultures was significantly improved. Students’ global education skills were also improved. However, students’ participation aspect was not improved.
3.The action research process of developing global education instructional project promoted researcher’s teaching profession.
Based on the above conclusions, the researcher made recommendations to educators interested in global education, education administrators and future researchers.
