Summary:碩士 === 國立臺北教育大學 === 音樂學系碩士班 === 98 === This thesis is a research of Sonata Appassionata, Op. 140 for Flute Solo by Sigfrid Karg-Elert. The first chapter introduction includes research purpose, literature review, research limitation and the methods. The second chapter describes a short biography of Karg-Elert and introduce his living background. Then it takes his flute works as the main theme, with his other instrumental works secondly to describe the characteristic and compositional technique of his flute works. The third chapter is the analysis of Sonata Appassionata in aspects of form structure, motive development, pitch, rhythm, special compositional technique, etc. The fourth chapter raises the view of interpretation to the composition. In the conclusion, it summarizes the personality and the time which had influence on Sigfrid Karg-Elert. It presents the whole feature and characteristic of Sonata Appassionata.
