Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺北教育大學 === 教育政策與管理研究所 === 97 === This study aimed to explore self-concept and learning attitudes of immigrant brides’ and native children at elementary schools in Penghu County and to compare the differences in self-concept and learning attitudes of the children among different background variables. The study was conducted through a questionnaire survey. The subjects were 543 immigrant brides’ and native children from grade four to six in Penghu County. The data were collected by a self-constructed questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics, two-way ANOVA and structural equation modeling (SEM).The survey results are as follows. The similarities between the immigrant brides’ and native children in Penghu: 1. The self-concept and learning attitudes were good. 2. The children whose mothers could communicate in Taiwanese and understand news broadcast in Taiwanese had higher family-self than the children whose mothers could understand only Taiwanese. 3. There was no significant difference in the self-concept of immigrant brides’ children and native children with different genders and their mothers’ proficiency in Mandarin. 4. There was no significant difference in the learning attitudes of immigrant brides’ children and native children with their mothers’ different level of education and proficiency in Taiwanese and Mandarin. 5. The self-concept and learning attitudes were positively correlated and the relationship between them in structural equation modeling was supported. The differences between the immigrant brides’ and native children in Penghu: 1. The learning needs and interests of the native female pupils were higher than those of the Chinese and Southeast Asian pupils. 2. The physical self-concept and learning needs of native children with low Body Mass Index (BMI) were significantly higher than those of immigrant brides’ children with normal, low and high BMI. 3. The physical self-concept of Chinese fourth grade pupils was higher than that of native and Southeast Asian fourth grade to sixth grade pupils. The learning attitudes of native fourth grade to sixth grade pupils were higher than those of the immigrant brides’ children from grade four to six. 4. The self-concept and learning attitudes of the native children with their educational expectations of completing graduate school education were significantly higher than those of the immigrant brides’ children with their educational expectations of completing junior high school to graduate school education. 5. The self-concept and learning attitudes of the native children with their maternal expectations of completing graduate school education were significantly higher than those of the immigrant brides’ children with their maternal expectations of completing junior high school to graduate school education. 6. The self-concept of the native children whose mothers held at least a bachelor’s degree was higher than that of the immigrant brides’ children whose mothers had completed elementary school to university education. Suggestions were put forward on the basis of the previous stated findings as reference resources for elementary school students, their parents and the schools.
