Although the historical architectures in Historic Streets do share a lot of similarities, such as harbors, temples, rows of same structure old houses, it will be better to show the its unique local cultural connotation and the aspect. The subject of this thesis is San-Sia Historic Street. And the purpose is to probe into the San-Sia Historic Street and its peripheral living spaces and culture, and to discuss the problems of the space development and local culture of San-Sia Historic Street, which is companied with the influence the cultural policy brought to from past to now; then find out how to use the traditional space to reappear and revive its cultural space. Nowadays, it is particular that in order to fit the popularity’s requests in space, transiting the original existed conditions is necessary. Therefore, how to run the space is worth to review and improve. Under the influence of village preservation trend in recent years, the preservation and redeveloping of Historic Street seems to be a research topic which is waiting to integrate. Therefore, this thesis researches and analyzes the culture of Historic Street its re-developing. First of all, understanding the space elements and cultural living the Historic Street comprises by ordering the related documents, and through the investigations and interview to collect the local cultural resources, which are traditional workmanships, traditional faiths, traditional architectures and old watercourses, and at last, analyzes the characteristics of San-Sia Historic Street and entire environments. In other words, it is to integrate these elements to be the chances of developing an ecological museum by using intangible culture’s conditions with the analysis of SWOT. Moreover, the whole thesis is to concern about the intangible culture formed by the tangible culture. Through this thesis, and discover the festivities, folk custom cultures and living spaces, these parts are inseparable with San-Sia Historic Street, and these characteristic activities and places are the witnesses of the local historic heritage in this contemporary. And because of them, San-Sia Historic Street becomes to a cultural media to convey community memories. Therefore, the redeveloping issue of San-Sia community, is able to ingrate the living spaces, festivities space, and cultural sightseeing area to a cultural space with the function of ecological museum.
