| Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺北大學 === 古典文獻學研究所 === 97 === Pang Xi Zhai in Wu County, Jiangsu Province (today's Suzhou) is a well-known private collection house in Qing Dynasty. "Pang Xi Zhai" is famous at that time because of its collection more than 100 volumes of precious rare books of the Song Dynasty Yuan Dynasty, old and excellent books in the Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty and rare books kept at home and abroad. In addition, "Pang Xi Zhai" also widely gathered a variety of bronze monuments of ancient times as well as mud seals in the Qin and Han Dynasties. Due to his rich collection, Pan Zu Yin, the owner of "Pang Xi Zhai", became an outstanding book collection figure in China. In addition to his efforts to collect ancient precious books, Pan Zu Yin worked for contemporary scholars' writing and engraving works in the Qing dynasty and made them into the series of books for the use of future generations, which turn into quite popular for academic contributions. Although the books of "Pang Xi Zhai" began lost and dispersed after Pan Zu Yin died. The later generations sold a few collections due to the condition of family being poor. For the above reasons, "Pang Xi Zhai" was no longer as good and rich as the past glory in terms of collection of books. Nevertheless, Pan Zu Yin, the owner of "Pang Xi Zhai" still has his great contributions in his life for the preservation of ancient literature, collection, application, and dissemination, worthy of our emulation today.
This paper is prepared and proposed based on the references of National Library of China, Shanghai Library, National Central Library, National Palace Museum and others. The research of paper deals with the Current Status of Pan Zu Yin's Visible Collection of Books, and Analysis and Discussion of Pan Zu Yin's collection of books, respectively discussed in seven chapters:
Chapter 1 "Introduction":
First, in view of research motivation and purpose, research methodology and scope, this paper gives a needed elaboration and writing, and further draws conclusions and summary from the findings of previous researches.
Chapter 2 "Pan Zu Yin's family background, life story, and friends"
A narrative of Pan Zu Yin's family background, life, deeds and important friends in objectivity to construct Pan Zu Yin's background and life and its influences on his collection of books
Chapter 3 "Pan Zu Yin's collection of books and career of inscribed books"
This chapter discusses in details the collection features of "Pang Xi Zhai", Pan Zu Yin's catalogs and types of collection of books in terms of specifications of writing style and the published two series, in which describe the situation of the book selections and types.
Chapter 4 "The general description of Pan Zu Yin's collection of books"
At the sites of book collections such as National Library of China, Shanghai Library, National Central Library, National Palace Museum and others for current Pan Zu Yin's collection of books, we file them by order, further record the library sites, book version, collection stamps and other related information.
Chapter 5 and Chapter 6 "An Analysis of the Pan Zu Yin's collection (Volume 1 and Volume 2):
At sites of National Library of China, Shanghai Library, National Central Library, National Palace Museum and others, we may be currently aware of Pan Zu Yin's collection of books by the order of Pang Xi Zhai Cang Shu Ji and Pang Xi Zhai Song Yuan Ben Shu Mu to sort them. Furthermore, we refer to the ancient inscription made on a scroll to clarify the version and the origins, compared with their advantages and disadvantages, to examine the value of the agreed version.
Chapter 7 "Conclusion"
To sum up the findings of this paper, I draw the conclusion Pan Zu Yin's ancient rare collection of books, series and printing, features and values of collected inscriptions and texts, giving an overall evaluation so as to manifest the values and academic status of literature collected by Pang Xi Zhai.
