The market is also full of Japanese style cartoons. However, it is worrying that the Japanese cartoon is not appropriate for children’s to read or see because of the sexual and violent content. Although some local cartoonists have noticed this serious problem and start to change it, Taiwan’s popular cartoons still not showing a unique style. Compared to the foreign cartoons, there are no differentiation and identification o Taiwanese cartoons. The local Taiwanese cartoons are not only lack of recognition, but also the cultural elements to help develop our own styles. Because of the Greater China conscious suppression, the local Taiwanese culture and value were deliberately ignored in the past years. Along with Taiwan democracy's advancement and martial law relieving, many people started to pay attention on the local culture. While affirming the Taiwanese value, people also re-examined their beliefs and inspect what the essence and characteristic of Taiwan are. Both the local literary movement in the 1960s and the local arts movement in the 1970s started from the aggressive seeking of local cultural originals. Many writers, painters, and sculptors created a numbers of works to positive respond to these movements. The cartoonists also participated in this. Among them, Xing-Qin Liu was the most influential and has the most achievements. Xing-Qin Liu is born on the Hsinchu Hakkas hill country “Da Shan Bei” who has created his own style in the 1950s with the friendly humor and self-taunted cartoons. His works deeply describe the rural life and the changing from an agricultural society to and industrial and commercial one. Those cartoons, with rich cultural content, not only popular at that time but even more memorable. He is definitely the best role model for the Taiwanese native culture cartoonist. This study is focus on the full research of the Taiwanese cartoonist Xing-Qin Liu, including his biography and studies; cartoon creation style and techniques. This study focuses especially on the Taiwanese style characters such as Big Auntie and Brother A-san, and how Xing-Qin Liu skillfully combine the cultural elements into his cartoons to create the very typical Taiwanese style cartoon. Moreover, this study does an in-depth analysis on Xing-Qin Liu’s contribution in the technology and moral education, and his efforts in the cultural and creative industries.
