But relatively, fewer researches are stressed on the interface issue of digital archives. The majority of the retrieval interfaces of these archival sites are text-based with few dynamic interactions. As network bandwidth and multimedia display technology advances, visualized interfaces could be designed to help people utilize these digital contents more efficiently. We begin with the investigation of the visual elements and the functionality of the interface of the current web sites of several representative museums. Based on the results of this analysis, we design and implement a prototype for the digital archives system of an art museum with enhanced visualized user interface. We test the prototype by using the current collection of a national museum. We also check the usability and user satisfaction of our design concept by conduction a series of user studies. The preliminary findings show that on the subjective satisfaction from different users’ operation, the acceptance of the prototype’s interface is above the average. Through the results of questionnaires and interviews, we propose several suggestions on the function and visual design of the interface. These recommendations could be summarized as the interface design should focus on the continuity of operations and the visual design should focus on enhancing the readability of information. In addition, the concept of data filtering could help users in the efficiency of information retrieval. Geeng-Neng You Te-Jen Lien 游耿能 連德仁 2009 學位論文 ; thesis 84 zh-TW
