The study adopts the questionnaire survey method using the “Elementary School Teacher’s Work Stress and Daily Life Experience Questionnaire” as the research tool and taking Pingtung County’s elementary school teachers as the investigation population group. According to school size, the survey had selected 55 schools with a total of 658 teachers as the research samples to perform questionnaire investigation, and 566 copies of valid questionnaires were recovered. The collected data were conducted with descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson product-moment correlation analysis and other statistical methods according to SPSS statistical software package. The research findings are listed as follows: 1. The work stress of Pingtung County’s elementary school teachers is ranked as mid to low level. 2. There is a significant variance in work stress aspect towards different gender, marital status, length of service and working position. Among those who experience a higher work stress are male teachers on “personal development” aspect, unmarried teachers on “personal development” aspect, teachers with 6-15 years of working experience on “interpersonal relationship” and form teachers on “administrative support,” “student teaching methods” and “violation in educational principles” aspects. 3. There is a significant variance in work stress aspect towards different school size and school location. Among those who experience higher working stress are teachers teaching in classes 13-24 on “administrative support” aspect, teachers teaching in classes 25 and above on “personal development” aspect, and general teachers on “administrative support” aspect. 4. The depression tendency of Pingtung County’s elementary school teachers is ranked as mid to low level, and with “depressive mood” aspect taking a higher level of depression tendency. 5. There is a significant variance in depression tendency aspect towards different age, educational level, length of service and working position. Among those who experience a higher depression tendency are teachers aged 31 to 40, teachers with National Taiwan Normal University and other Teachers College academic background, teachers with 6-15 and 16-25 years of working experience, form teachers and other teachers. 6. There is a significant positive correlation between work stress and depression tendency on Pingtung County’s elementary school teachers. Hou Sung-Mao 侯松茂 2009 學位論文 ; thesis 146 zh-TW
