Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺東大學 === 兒童文學研究所 === 99 === Abstract Michel Foucault 's power discourse and Dick Hebdige's theory on styles of youth resistance are adopted in this study to discuss youth self-identity in Weekly Journal of Teenage Da Tou Cun and Outdoor Children. Michel Foucault pointed out that as long as there are power relations between two parties, power generates our way of living, belief and pleasure. In relation to power is an object with resistance. Wrestling between power and the corresponding object constructs identity of a subject. Dick Hebdige's discourse on style of resistance pointed out the style of youth subculture that breaks down identity of the mainstream value, conveying the meaning of refusing the mainstream culture and struggling for a living space. It is discovered in this study that under introvert technology of power (biopower) in school, family and society, youth subjects not only accept exercise of power but establish self-constraint to become submissive individuals from the perspective of power. Also, power network established around youth objects can focus on common goals to establish companionship and to strengthen influence on power. However, those who exercise power can't escape power relations. Discipline and punishment for the submissive objects will still need undertaking in the existing social power framework. On the other hand, facing imposed power, the young with resistance ability in this research may choose to accept power arrangement, form identity in sense of empowerment, or construct a resistance style to challenge power relations. Although such resistance will disappear due to reconstruction of dominant groups, it is time after time the space that the youth respond to power as well as position and understand themselves, from which also provides different interpretations on youth subject self-identity.
