| Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺東大學 === 兒童文學研究所 === 98 === The study focuses on nine published juvenile novels written by Chen, Zhao-Yi, who devotes himself in writing native Taiwan. Through interviewing Chen, Zhao-Yi about his writing, the study explores the material or subject selection, the character setting and narrating techniques of his juvenile novels.
By matching the living and writing background—the belief or the track, with Chen, Zhao-Yi’s juvenile novels, the study would issue the writing materials in five sections: family, campus, culture, society and others; it would issue the subject matters from the struggle with selfness, others, a society, and nature; it would issue the character setting from adolescent boys, adolescent girls, parents, the aged, and the elders; it would issue the narrating techniques by view-points, plots, and statements.
The results might conclude the personal writing characteristics and formulas of Chen, Zhao-Yi’s juvenile novels which are full of imagination, childlike delight and perception, homeland caring, and life cherishing. He uses nostalgic statements to narrate modern issues and sets off the journey between reality and fantasy to record the process of inquiring ancestry and the witness of cultural tradition . Chen, Zhao-Yi’s novels manipulate symbols to join the core of the text in order.to enrich the spirit of theme. Also the simple writing skills, intervals, harmony between human and nature, love and tolerance are all concluded in his works.
