碩士 === 國立臺灣藝術大學 === 造形藝術研究所 === 97 === Abstract Based on the on-going capitalization and the post-colonization in Taiwan, this research is aimed at exploring the prototype and variation of native species in Taiwan. According to the theories brought up by Edward W. Said, Gayatri Spivak and Homi Bhabha, the researcher first analyzed topics on hegemony and substitution of cultural subjectivity, and then described the contradictory phenomenon existing in Taiwan. Our live fields in Taiwan are flooded with popular cultures like Hollywood movies, brand products (ex: LOUIS VUITTON, GUCCI...). These industries are having a great impact on our very own culture. As the world comes into a so-called “global village”, Taiwan’s culture has been invaded and been reshaped. It’s important to seek the balance between foreign cultures and our own. This thesis is composed of five chapters. The first chapter is about the motive and proposes of this research. The methodology and the limitation are also included in the first chapter. In the second chapter are some bibliography reviews on the colonization and post-colonization in Taiwan. The researcher’s idea on his art work can be found in chapter three and four. The final chapter is the conclusion. Having the theories mentioned above in mind, the researcher hopes to present the culture conflicts and fusion in a post-colony situation.
