Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立高雄大學 === 國際高階經營管理碩士在職專班(IEMBA) === 97 === ABSTRACT Shanghai and Ho Chi Minh City; the two biggest cities in its countries were originated and developed from river ports. In the early time, the growth of Shanghai was localized in Puxi, and Ho Chi Minh City's development also centered in the west bank of Saigon River due to the separation of the river ports. The main purpose of this research is to find the answer of how does Shanghai and Ho Chi Minh City break its limits developing to the new area in Pudong and Saigon South respectively? What kinds of problems have ever happened in its evolution process? How these problems were resolved? How did it influence on the developed areas to the original city centres? Is there any valuable innovation in the process? What are the successful factors for the new town development? This research has found some answers for the above questions. Pudong becomes the display window for the successful reform in China; the Phu My Hung area has become the most ideal place to live/work and was recognized as the benchmarking New City Center in Vietnam. These two areas not only release the pressure of the overcrowded population but also provide high quality facilities for the old town. Pudong and Saigon South became the new driving force for the future development of Shanghai and the Ho Chi Minh City. During the developing process, these two projects have created many valuable innovations, such as the traffic-jam-free Nguyen-Van-Ling Parkway; the flood-free and cost effective land filling process etc.... This research also conducts some key successful factors for the reference of subsequent new urban developments. These two projects are responsible by government and private companies respectively. Both of them are successfully developed in different ways. Utilizing the well designed master plan and efficient execution, Pudong and Saigon South both has become a solid foundation for the expansion of future development, and become the new economy hubs in the region as well. Key words: Pudong, Saigon South, Phu My Hung, City innovation
