Summary:碩士 === 中國文化大學 === 生活應用科學研究所 === 97 === The purpose of the study was to investigate the development process of the indigenous tribes’ hospitality industry of Mataian wetland in Guangfu village, Hualien, by using qualitative approach which included in-depth interview and participant observation. The target were selected by purposeful sampling among government agencies, hospitality industries and local residents. The reliability and validity of the study were established by triangulation. Data were analyzed by TACE (tourist area cycle of evolution) and SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats). Strategies were also provided to the hospitality industry of Mataian wetland for future development in suggestions. The results showed that: 1. The development of Mataian wetland was included four stages as follows: exploration stage (1973-1990), involvement stage (1991-1999), development stage (2000-2006) and consolidation stage (2006-present). 2. Although Mataian wetland was the traditional farming area of the Amis tribe, but it was not based on the indigenous people through development process. 3. There were various development plans and expectations of Mataian wetland between farmers’ association and township office, because of the different systems of the government agencies. 4. The combination of government resources and the participation of local residents are the keys to promote the development of the hospitality industry of Mataian wetland.
