| Summary: | 碩士 === 中國文化大學 === 藝術研究所 === 97 === Fashion means a prevailing custom or style of dress, etiquette, socializing, and so forth. It, characterized by changing, is by no means everlasting. The fashion today may be obsolete tomorrow. The study is based on the viewpoint of beauty and explores the modern beauty which is attributed to the combination of fashion and female figure. This thesis also illustrates the ideas and concepts of my paintings on account of the fusion of beauty of traditional Chinese female figure and that of modern female figure.
The first section describes the motivation and the methodology of this study. The second and third section illustrates the perspectives and theories proposed by those outstanding and renowned painters in Chinese history. In the forth section, I analyze the differences between traditional beauty and modern beauty as well as demonstrate the history of fashion. Furthermore, I use my artistic creation as well as the ideas and concepts of my painting to portray the main idea of this thesis. In the fifth section, I divide my artistic creation into four categories, including imitation, painting from nature, portrait paintings, and traditional Chinese painting of beautiful women. Each is given a detailed description. Section six concerns what I have learned during the years of painting.
