碩士 === 國防大學政治作戰學院 === 社會工作碩士班 === 97 === The purpose of this study is to explore work values of NEETs and transition curve. With the viewpoint of life-course theory, researcher intends to probe into how events of NEETs’ life experience mold and alter their work values. This study is a qualitative research which uses in-depth interview. The interviewees are those who have not looked for a job over six months, are not in education or training. Data analysis is categorized four parts: domestic interaction and education, teacher-student relationship and curriculum, friends’ attitude toward work and NEETs’ work values. Results are proposed as below: 1. Half of the interviewees’ work values favored employment. As long as their parents sever economic ties with them, they are capable of being self supporting. 2. NEETs’ typical work values are dependency, passive, passing the buck, respect for better returns, unwilling to take challenge. They care nothing about applying a job, fastidious and demanding but inept. Life course theory is helpful to “work values shaping research” because of “time consciousness”, so that we may figure out NEETs’ work values. Suggestions are proposed as below: 1. College should strength linkage among curriculum, industry and employment demanding, while industry offers practical training opportunities for college students. 2. As for parents, treating children as adults make them responsible person, and a gradually success strategy is required. Keywords: NEETs, Work value, Life history, Life-course theory
