碩士 === 世新大學 === 資訊傳播學研究所(含碩專班) === 97 === The vigorous developing of phalaenopsis industry in Taiwan comes from the orchid appreciation activities in the Japanese colonial period. The collective memory of abundant stories, experiences and knowledge enriches the successfully industry developing process. The purpose of the study is using in-depth interviews and documents analysis to explore the collective memory in the phalaenopsis related communities. In this study, the interviews following five elements: "time and process," "individual and group", "ceremony and activities", "media and records" and "space and field" were summed up and analyzed to build the collective memory in the community of phalaenopsis appreciation cultivating in Taiwan. The results of the study are as follows: 1. The phalaenopsis appreciation cultivating has been developed for over 100 years and provided rich elements of collective memory.; 2. The collective memory can be affected, memorized and spread in communities because of the interaction between individuals and the five elements. The individuals play the leading role of constructing and formatting collective memory in the interaction processes; 3. The continually holding "the ceremony and activities" which included monthly admiring, competitions and orchid exhibitions, will not only strengthen the common collective memory, but also increase a sense of belonging and identification in the community; 4. Because the media and articles of specialized orchids magazines, awards record and other media or data compensate the gaps of collective memory of phalaonopsis appreciation cultivating community in Taiwan, it contributes to collection, preservation, circulation and construction of collective memory.; 5. “Space and Field” can recall the old feeling and picture of phalaenopsis appreciation cultivating community in Taiwan; it also provides the opportunity of orchid appreciator becoming the carriers of collective memory; 6. The operation of phalaenopsis appreciation cultivating community can find the individuals during constructing collective memory, which may have the mechanism of selectivity remembered or forgot to reduce the conflicts and inconsistencies with each other; 7. To construction the collective memory of phalaenopsis appreciation cultivating community will achieve the conservation of collective memory in community as well as the preservation of group cohesion. The study discussed the developing sequence of phalaenopsis appreciation cultivating community in Taiwan from the view of "collective memory". It supplemented the past phalaenopsis-related researches, which focused on technological development and business management only, and further richen and cohered the group with the common historical memory. The results of this study can be referenced for the development of phalaenopsis industry and related researches.
