Leisure and recreation activities can satisfy different needs of the visitors and improve their quality of life. Place attachment is an important variable in exploring interaction between people and the environment. It provides insight of whether the recreational site satisfies functional and emotional needs of its visitors. It can also promote effective management and practical planning for people who are in charge. This research aims to understand the relationship between motivation of leisure participation and place attachment. It is a case of Barclay Memorial Park. This study used qualitative methodology and quantitative methodology. In the qualitative methodology, 7 tourists were interviewed. In quantitative research, 328 effective surveys were collected by convenient sampling method. Various statistical methods are conducted, including descriptive analysis, independent t-test, One-way ANOVA, and Pearson correlation analysis. The results are as follows: 1. The tourists visiting Barclay Memorial Park, they are primarily male, aged in the range from 21 to 40. They are mostly workers, businessmen and students. They are primarily married, with a college or university degree. Most of them are at “no kid” stage in their family life cycles. They are mostly residences of the East District of Tainan. Most of them arrive to the site by motorcycle or walking. Staying time in the park is about 1-2 hours. Their frequent companions are family members. The frequency of visiting the park is about 1-3 times per week. 2.
