A Study of Leisure Sport Participation and Obstacles Involved by Senior and Vocational High School Teachers in Northern Area of Pingtung County

碩士 === 大仁科技大學 === 休閒健康管理研究所 === 97 === The purpose of this study is to explore different background variables in teachers’ participations and obstacles in leisure sport. The subjects for this study are 457 senior and vocational high school teachers in Northern Area of Pingtung County. The research tool is “The Questionnaire For Leisure Sport Participation and Obstacles Involved by Senior and Vocational High School Teachers in Northern Area of Pingtung County” （random sampling）to collect data. The analytic approaches include Descriptive Statistics, Independent-Samples T Test, One-way ANOVA, Scheffe method post-hoc comparison, and Chi-Square Test. Important results of analysis are as follow. First, the percentage of senior and vocational high school teachers in Northern Area of Pingtung County who take part in leisure sport is up to 73.6％. Most of them use holiday and non-holiday time, and the frequency is three times a week. The duration is below an hour. The participation time is in the afternoon (after work). Their companion is their family. The location is in the school gymnasium. Their expenditure on leisure sport is less than five thousand dollars. Running is the most common item of leisure sport that those teachers choose. Second, as for constraints factors of senior and vocational high school teachers’ leisure sport participation and obstacles in Northern Area of Pingtung County, the main factors of constraints are Work（M＝3.84）, Environment and Economy （M＝3.60）, Location and Facility（M＝3.40）and Individual Intrinsic Factor（M＝3.17）. Third, different background variables in senior and vocational high school teachers’ leisure sport participation in Northern Area of Pingtung County do not have remarkable differences in Participation Habit. In Participation Times, the Sex, Age, Years of Service and Average Monthly Income variables all have remarkable differences. In Participation Duration, the Sex variable has remarkable differences. In Participation Time, both the Age and Years of Service variables have remarkable differences. The Age and Average Monthly Income variables have remarkable differences in choosing when to participate in leisure sport. In Monthly Expenditure, the Diploma, Duty and the Average Monthly Income variables all have remarkable differences. Fourth, among different background variables in senior and vocational high school teachers’ leisure sport participation in Northern Area of Pingtung County, different Sex, Age, Diploma, Duty, Years of Service and Average Monthly Income variables do not make any differences in teachers’ participation in leisure sport. This study hopes to suggest that the educational administration can offer more leisure sport courses or workshops, let schools have more sport facilities, and offer more parent-child leisure sports that are suitable for the whole family members. In this way, more teachers can participate in leisure sport and even develop regular habits of taking part in leisure sport.
