| Summary: | 碩士 === 東海大學 === 工業設計學系 === 97 === Nowadays, MRT system holding an important role for mass community that cannot be replaced, everyday transferring area and route getting complex, so it forms the Interchange Station, in the other hand it bring impact for the elder, this research focusing on the product and also the environment that can provide needs for group of people, choosing the elders as the starting point to recognized their action behavior, it might help most people in MRT station more easier to operate.
The first research technique is collects the entire the elder characteristic of vision and motion function, to measure how they adapt to the surrounding environment. There are two kind of results how to carry on the condition of the investigation, ”experimental behavior” that the result will be compared with “Sign object establishment from present situation”, and so on to more ”depth interview” to understand the elder demand of Sign object in the MRT station.
Result from behavior mapping method observation, the elder transferred their behavior by “to form the goal”, “decision making process”, and “the affirmative act”, each kind of behavior need different kind of sign objects. The most important step is “decision making process”, especially the Utilization of sign object. The elder characteristic is their speed is slow, does not take short cut, easy to occur in passing through nearby the route, the platform, the floors, inconvenient eye sight area, the elder and general passenger’s speed, different direction as well. When reads sign object the most major problem is not recognize or does not understand what it means. Scattered sign object make people easy to get lost or create the hesitation.
The elder legibility degradation is quite serious, bright or dark environment is not easy to adapt, should emphasize with the sign objects. The correct method is increasing the sign objects to be readable, consistent, and visible. The elders need sign object should contain “the arrow to show direction, hanged type, deep background color with white text, different route divide into different color”. The individuality, the habit, the vision have influences to wayfinding, it may concern the elder psychology feeling, for example in the turning area, the platform, long distance path, nearby the electricity staircase, by providing sign objects which are obvious, always updated and personalized. And also it should have convenient visibility for the building material quality and from the spatial characteristic aspect.
