Description
Summary:碩士 === 東海大學 === 建築學系 === 97 === Geomancy is a traditional Chinese construction theory, which contains tremendous accumulated statistics of life experiences and studies of the details of empirical handlings and therefore makes itself a complete concept of construction. However, under the current environment of modernized society, geomancy seems to lack something in adapting itself to the new age. The evolution of city structure and dramatic changes in the forms of dwelling house have given the media and various kinds of geomancy factions an opportunity to manipulate it and consequently resulted in lots of theoretical gaps, obscurity, superficial expressions of formality and symbols, and ended up with passive construction and space reviews. Meanwhile, the world has shown quite different attitude towards the value judgment on geomancy by paying more attention to Chinese culture, bringing them into the spotlight and coating it with a shinny color. However, if you observe the phenomena in detail, you would find that it was merely viewed as a cultural relic, respected, and passed onto generations as a belief and customs, which reveals the fact that oriental world is still under the dominance of the western application science. The points of this research lie in finding out and accumulating the practicality of geomancy, enhancing its reference value, trying to reverse the role it has been playing (being passive and commented on),bringing it back to its origin as an instructor in construction space ,then one by one verifying the belief and science hidden in geomancy, and then embodying the major concept of this system stage by stage, in which architecture plays a rather important auxiliary role and it’s also one of the purposes of the experiment held in the research. The research was divided into several stages. First, starting from the essential processes in traditional construction, we clarified the geomancy specialist’s corresponding tasks in terms of traditional construction, so that the necessary items of the geomancy construction processes could be obtained. At the same time, due to the existence of various geomancy factions, related geomancy studies were also conducted to get a comprehensive understanding of geomancy, among which the theories of “Ba-Zhai position, Magic Square and Five elements” were the major concepts studied since they were more representative and of profound theoretical base; secondly, transformation experiment was the major part of this research. Based on the foregoing, the focus of the experiment was then specified by conducting experiments such as “Experiment on Geomancy-Dwelling Match”, “Experiment on Collective Dwelling Internal Arrangement”, “Experiment on Internal Arrangement”, “Experiment on Different Internal Arrangement Combination”, and “the Transforming of the Geomantic Design Guidance”, in the hope that the design method of the modern geomantic architecture could be successfully constructed; thirdly, based on the constructed guidance mentioned earlier, the design of the dwelling was then put into practice, in addition to the standard layouts set in all directions, the result of the “test design of the environment conditions” was also set beforehand, such as the re-design of certain projects. Then, we also brought up a model example of geomantic architecture for guidance reference, which focused mainly on the dwelling space with the architecture of the public areas as a secondary focus, and with original layout model micro-viewed and the structure of the space macro-viewed.
