Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺北科技大學 === 建築與都市設計研究所 === 97 === MaoKong area is famous for its rich natural resources in forests and spectacular scenes. This place is flooded with people who go there to enjoy all the beautiful scenes and variety of teas. As result, it constantly causes serious traffic jams. In order to solve such problem and restore tourism back to a much better position, Taipei’s city hall decided to build Sky-Ride (also called Sky Gondola) in Mao Kong area and such plan was implemented. Since the completion of the Sky Gondola, there have been more than six million people who have had such form of transportation during their visit to Mao Kong area. As a result, Mao Kong has been officially promoted to another national tourism spot from previously just a local resting place and there has been a huge economic prosperity in this region. Due to devastating destruction caused by the two hurricanes, Jangmi and Sinlaku, the ramps that support the Mao Kong lifting towers seriously clasped. For the public safety, Mao-Kong air ride had to be shut down on October 1st of 2008 without prior notice to the public. Needless to say, the Mao Kong Gondola transportation has brought remarkable convenience to the tourists and significant economical prosper to the region; it has greatly enhanced the tourism industry and local economy, providing increase in local employment and revenue as result. On the other hand, the surge of tourism has also affected the local traditional way of life in some negative way. Ever since air ride service was stopped, local business at most of shops suffers a great loss, even worse than what was used to be before Mao Kong Gondola was built in the region. In order to survive, local shops have to make changes in conducting their business in order to deal with revenue loss. Some of them have closed down completely in order to stop their financial loss. The mode has changed completely from being optimistic to pessimistic in general; local people have been complaining the government about not doing enough to help their fast-shrinking business and they don’t believe they can help themselves without significant external financial support. Our comprehensive analysis on the situation in this region surrounding Mao Kong Gondola, involving visiting and surveying local business establishment about the economical changes before and after the air ride service, will provide in-depth and first hand analytical evaluation with respect to the construction, operation of Mao Kong Gondola transportation as well as all the significant impact during and after this special form of transportation service. This analysis with evaluation should provide the government with some good planning in terms of future investment in both Mao Kong Gondola transportation and prosperity for the local business as a whole community in future.
