However, the researcher has realized that it is seldom used by school teachers for field trips and our-door learning. The purposes of this study are to: 1. Conduct a thorough study of the nature resources of Bailusishan mountain area. 2. Conduct a study of the geology and terrain of Bailusishan through literature review and on-site survey. 3. Design self-learning brochures and activity worksheets for families and local residents to use when they had outdoor learning in Bailusishan. 4. Determine the effects of self-learning at this mountain area in terms of perceptual awareness, knowledge, and environmental ethics, as well as the opinions from the parents. This study concludes that there are 83 species in 67 categories from 41 families of woody plants in Bailusishan. As a result of the terrain and rainfall in the northeastern slope, buttress roots are a common phenomenon. There are 55 species of ferns in 32 categories from 18 families. And there are 18 species of birds in 17 categories from 12 families. The birds can be seen frequently in and around Bailusishan. There are 46 species of butterflies in 34 categories from 8 families. The slope is skewed to the northeast, and consists of gravel sand and shale from the third Miodene period. The formation of strata is in thick sandstone layers, and the soil is yellowish brown. Average annual rainfall is 2187 mm, with monthly rainfall year round. Warm climate plants can be found around the peak and along the crest line due to lower temperature. There were 30 5th and 6th graders participated in this study, along with their parents. They participated in 1 orientation meeting and 3 self-learning with the designed brochures and activity worksheets for guidance. The results of post-test have shown an increase in both environmental awareness and attitude among the students, but the differences are not significant. The increase in environmental knowledge is significant. And most parents have positive opinions about the out-door learning. The nature resources examined, and the brochures and activity worksheets designed for self-study can be used by the nearby schools as reference for the outdoor science learning or be incorporated into the school-based curriculum. These data can also be used by government agencies for reference in publishing tour guides and out-door activity books for this mountain area. 王美芬 2009 學位論文 ; thesis 180 zh-TW
