The activities and creations in art teaching are the media to guide the communication between people and the environment where they live, and to provoke people’s concern over the environment. The teaching on environmental issues is precisely the important topic in modern education. Environmental education aims to enhance students’ environmental knowledge, and to train them to have the ability to solve the environmental problems. This research investigates the influence on the higher graders in the elementary school through the implementation of integrating the environmental issues into visual arts curriculum, The purposes of this research are as follows: 1.Exploring the theories of environmental education and visual arts curriculum. 2. Investigating the differences between the control and the experimental groups before and after the implementation of the environmental issue teaching. According to the results, proposing the concrete proposals as the reference to the future environmental education. 3. Enhancing the students’ awareness of the environmental issues in the campus and the community by utilizing the environmental issues as the teaching materials, and initiating the students’ respect for, concern and identification with their living environment. Questionnaires are used as the research methodologies in this research, investigating the higher graders’ behaviors towards the environment. The researcher collects the data before and after the teaching. After gathering the data, the researcher statistically analyzes the data. The research focuses on the influence on students’ behaviors towards the environment through integrating the environmental issues into visual arts curriculum The analysis of the date reveals the following main findings: 1. The higher graders’ knowledge of environmental protection comes from televisions, their family and the school. The data also reveals that the school and family are the main sources from which the students get the information of environmental protection. 2. The experimental group shows more respect to the environment than the control group. The result points out that integrating environmental issues into visual art curriculum can better the higher graders’ behaviors towards the environment. 3.The teacher needs self –growth and the related knowledge and skills of teaching environmental issues. According to the findings, the research provides the following suggestions for the future environmental education: 1.Team teaching will be beneficial to the design and the implement of integrating environmental issues into visual art curriculum.
