"Gearing my life":a narrative inquiry to an individual experience of sport coaching

碩士 === 臺北巿立體育學院 === 休閒與運動管理碩士班 === 97 === Abstract This inquiry took a narrative approach in retelling a story of personal experience of a sport coach, Kenny (pseudonym). I intended to realize how he looked upon the process of teaching in sports in his own view and the problems he had faced with in his career including teaching, working, and the transitions it had brought. Through retelling Kenny’s story, I explored his experience in teaching and the challenges he had during working as a sport coach. The data collection of this inquiry consisted of interviewing, observing, mining documents, and writing field notes. Data were analyzed via “thematic analysis,” and four themes were emerged as follows：1, Touching swim, 2, Experiencing teaching, 3, Taking charge of life, and 4, Overcoming the barriers at work. Additionally, this paper integrated three conclusions and implications to bring up reflections and propositions to the sport coach, school staff, educators, and future studies.
