碩士 === 國立雲林科技大學 === 工業設計系碩士班 === 97 === The main purpose of this research is to investigate the optimal button size and visual feedback of a small touch-screen used by the eldery. Fifteen elderly subjects, fifteen middle-aged subjects and fifteen younger subjects participated in the study. Every subject was asked to perform thirty-six tasks. The experiment includes four independent variables, button size, color, visual feedback form and age, and the criterion measures includes operation time, operation accuracy and user subjective preferences. The result indicates that a larger button size, the square of 9mm, is the best size for the elderly on the small touch screen interaction. If users need to operate small buttons in the limited screen, then we could use the feedback form of enlarging the original button size to promote the performance. Finally, the color of the visual feedback avoid using black.
