Summary:碩士 === 元智大學 === 社會暨政策科學學系 === 97 === The development of Hakka dancing in Taiwan had seldom been recorded in the previous historical documents but only started striving in recent years due to the establishment of the Council for Hakka Affairs and its promotion. This research has focused on contemporary Hakka dancing in Taiwan as the theme; the research subject is to treat the choreographers of Hakka dancing and related films of the dancing performances as the text. This research intends to discuss the controversial issue whether Hakka dancing exists or not, by applying the researcher’s own knowledge and experiences as well as examining the themes and elements in Hakka dancing performances. In the meantime, this research will analyze the creation and features of contemporary Hakka dancing in Taiwan, along with its current situation and the difficulties it faces while growing. What kind of Hakka culture has reappeared in the dancing and the important symbols that are often used by Hakka dancing to represent Hakka culture are also important themes in the research.
