One can know that the implementation of a real-world PMLSM has been limited to the field-oriented control (FOC) drive method. However, the FOC policy needs inner current control loops and requires the complicated frame transformation. In this thesis, a modified integrator of the flux estimation is proposed to implement the direct thrust control (DTC) method for a real-word PMLSM system. The proposed policy can be used to obtain the accurate flux magnitude and the phase angle of the controlled motors. To do so, the PI parameters of position and speed controller based on genetic algorithm (GA) can be located. A new switching table can then be used to select the optimum voltage vectors and the PI parameters of the real motor can then be automatically generated by a genetic algorithm. Next, a nonlinear control design (NCD)-based sliding mode control (SMC) system can be employed such that the motor control system can be constructed by DTC method. Additionally, a NCD optimization algorithm can be developed to search the suitable SMC control parameters. Moreover, a new function-based controller is proposed to regulate the inherent chattering phenomenon.
