Our system is developed on a PDA phone and adopted the wireless technology of Bluetooth. ECG signals are collected by ECG sensors (controlled by a microprocessor, the MSP430F1611). Using the Pan Tompkins and QRS characteristic-points-detection algorithms, heart rate and QRS area are calculated. For detecting arrhythmia, the TCI, WFA(Wave Form Area) and complexity algorithms are programmed into the PDA phone. Several ECG parameters can be provided for patients to monitor cardiac health anytime and anywhere. Also, the ECG data and parameters are stored at the same time. Our system combines the GPS position with internet to send the data to a medical doctor for further health consultation. With a friendly user interface and automatic and semi-automatic alert functions built in the system, patients with cardiovascular disease can use it easily for personal-health management. H. L.
