of Elementary Schools Volunteers in Taoyuan County
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between volunteers’participation motivations and job performance of elementary schools in Taoyuan County.
This research was based on questionnaire survey and used the volunteers’self-appraisal and other people appraisal. The subjects of research were those elementary schools volunteers who were officially recruited from Taoyuan County which had sent out 1000 questionnaires and received 842 copies; the rate of return was 84.2%. The effective questionnaires were 810 and the rate of effectiveness was 81%.
“School volunteers,participation motivation scales”and“School volunteers ’job performances Scales”were two survey instruments used in the research. The data were analyzed and presented by frequencies,mean,standard deviation,t-test and one-way ANOVA, Pearsons, coefficient of correlation method、Multiple regression analysis . Findings from this research are summarized as followings:
1、The participation motivation and task performance of school volunteers
of Taoyuan County were above average.
2、There were significant differences in participation motivation when considering age differences, whether they have children study in schools, working hours per week, whether they have participated in other volunteers organizations, or if registered in Taoyuan County volunteers record book .
3、There were not significant differences in participation motivation, considering different gender、education level and school size.
4、There were significant differences in job performance in terms of volunteers’ demographic variables such as age, working hours per week, school size, whether they have children study at elementary schools, whether they have participated in other volunteers organizations, or if registered in Taoyuan County volunteers record book.
5、There were no significant differences in job performance in terms of volunteers gender, education or whether their children study in e elementary schools。
6、There were significant differences in job performance in terms of volunteers variables such as gender or their school positions。
7、There were positive correlations between volunteers participation motivation and job performance.
8、“Serving for others”has the best predict effectiveness among all participation motivation; the second best is“social contact”.
Finally, according to the findings above, suggestions are given to educational administrations, volunteers and future research.
