It causes the overuse of the lands in Taiwan. Huge amounts of the traditional structure methods being used in the mountain roads as well as the slopes are found in most mountain areas in Nantou County. After the 921 earthquake, these areas are frailer than before. It could not bear the strength of the natural fury when there were heavy rains. Therefore, the ecological engineering method are proposed and employed in the structures of the mountain road slopes in the Shuili Town of Nantou County, to create safe and the high quality environment. This study employed the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) to investigate the situation of the mountain road slopes paved by the ecological engineering method in the Shuili Town of Nantou County, then to establish an integrated evaluation method of the ecological engineering method that is suitable for the mountain road slopes. Under the safe consideration, using statistical analysis to weigh the various policy-making stratification planes, by referring to the four aspects, i.e. the ecology, environment, economical and the construction stratification plane, and the sixteen assessment criteria. Then, according the result, an integrated evaluation method was established and applied in an actual case which using the ecological engineering method to protect the slope on the 21st highway. The result shows that the ecological engineering method is better than the traditional engineering method. It’s effective to protect the slops. In the selected evaluation criteria, the factor of maintaining original plants scored the highest weighting (0.118), followed by factors of mitigating the disturbance to environment (0.107) and bio-diversity(0.098). According to the weighting factors got in the study, an evaluation method was established and adapted in the selected mountain road slopes in Nantou County. We hoped that the results could provide the policy-makers a solid information in the future decision making. Sheng-Lung Lin 林盛隆 學位論文 ; thesis 102 zh-TW
