Description
Summary:碩士 === 致遠管理學院 === 教育研究所 === 98 === The present study aimed to investigate elementary school students’ performance profiles and differences of growth slopes on physical fitness between different sports teams after trainings. The participants were 204 fifth to sixth grader from Hsinying Elementary School in Tainan County from 97th to 98th academic school year. One hundred and forty-eight average students and three sports teams that were comprised of 9 table tennis players, 25 dodge ball players and 22 basketball players were included. The physical fitness measurements including body mass index (height and weight), sit and reach, a broad jump differential, one-minute flexed leg sit up and 800-meters jog-walk were conducted. The longitudinal collected data was analyzed by HLM (hierarchical linear modeling) to evaluate effects of different sports teams on physical fitness of elementary school students. Generally speaking, the results show that the physical fitness of four sports teams, compared with the norm, was on average level. The four sports teams' students didn’t demonstrate more prominent than general counterpart students. With regards to body mass index, the differences of growth slopes between the average students and basket ball players and dodge ball players were not significant, but table tennis players significantly made more growth progresses than average students (slope coefficient=0.466). Likewise, with regards to one-minute flexed leg sit up, the differences of growth slopes between the average students and basket ball players and dodge ball players were not significant, but table tennis players significantly made more growth progresses than average students (slope coefficient=3.261). Additionally, in respect of sit and reach, a broad jump differential and 800-meters jog-walk, the differences of growth slopes between the three sports teams and average students were not significant. The table tennis players significantly made more growth progresses in some physical fitness measurements presumably due to less number of team members, higher teacher-student ratio, more training time, sufficiency of space and equipment. The study provides beneficial and informative messages to verify sports teams’ training strategy and outcome. It also gives evidence for improvements of future training and administration. Further researches are needed to examine different effects of physical fitness sports team training strategy, teaching staff, the amount of space and equipment, and the number of students on different sports teams in elementary schools.
