碩士 === 大葉大學 === 管理學院碩士在職專班 === 98 === The purpose of this study was to analyze the data of offense and defense performance in home court and away court of NBA games, by reviewing the data of the Detroit Pistons collected from 2002 to 2009. Performance of offense and defense was divided into ten categories, which were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Chi-square test. The findings are as follows: 1. During the regular season, the Detroit Pistons’ number of three-pointers, assists, and blocks is significantly higher in the home court games than the away court games. 2. During the playoffs, the Detroit Pistons’ number of blocks and fouls is significantly higher in the home court games than the away court games. 3. During the regular season, the Detroit Pistons’ shooting percentage of field goals and three-pointers is slightly higher in the home court games than the away court games; the shooting percentage of field goals is only slightly better in the home court games than the away court games during the playoffs.
