However, landfill of kitchen waste in Taiwan nowadays dose not have an effective management system. If one wants to determine about burial and pollution area of kitchen waste, core drilling or excavation can be used to determine its location and coverage. But using these methods has problems in heavy consumption in cost and manpower, lower efficiency, and possibility in destruction of the protective layer in the bottom of kitchen waste landfill. The main purpose of this thesis was to adopt the advantage of Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), including high speed, high resolution and non-destructive feature, to detect kitchen waste buried in a model sandbox and a field site. By description, judgment and analysis of the contamination coverage, the feasibility of using GPR to detect buried kitchen waste was studied. In this thesis, the G.S.S.I Ground-Penetrating Radar system was used in coordination with two antennas of 1.6GHz and 400MHz respectively to conduct tests in a sandbox model and in a field site. There are six simulation tests in sandbox model, including pure sand without any kitchen waste, buried kitchen waste sandbox, first perforation of kitchen waste bag, second perforation of kitchen waste bag, third perforation kitchen waste bag, and one day after perforation. Two methods of data processing had been conducted including the commercial program RANDAN and a self-written MATLAB procedure. Field tests were conducted in two test areas and the results were compared with those obtained from the sandbox. The results show that: (1) the buried kitchen waste will cause an arc-like reflection feature in the sandbox test. (2) After the seepage of buried kitchen waste, an apparent disturbance signal occurs under the bottom location of GPR image. (3) The self-written MATLAB procedure can conduct subtraction operation of background information, so that more in-depth understanding of time changes in kitchen waste can be performed. (4) A structurally integrated image can be found when no wastewater seepage occurs in the field test, while wastewater seepage will cause an apparent disturbance image under the bottom image of kitchen waste. none 康裕明 2010 學位論文 ; thesis 128 zh-TW
