碩士 === 逢甲大學 === 公共政策所 === 98 === According to the statistical data from National Police Agency, the 29 polices ended their lives by suicide from 2007 to June of 2010, and 26 in twenty-nine are police constables. Some of the data show that the pressure is heavy for police constables. The questionnaires were distributed to police constables of Changhua police station. A survey was conducted among 400 questionnaires release and 377 valid, with an approximate return rate of 94.25%. The major result can be summarized by statistics as follows. First, the origin of pressure and adjustment method A. The biggest working pressure is from “job”, and the next is from “organization”. B. The main adjustment method of facing pressure is direct solving, and the second is adjusting sentiment. Second, the difference of working pressure A. Working pressure is not different apparently in age, education, and seniority. B. The gender affected the working pressure clearly. C. Different marital condition affected the working pressure apparently. Third, the difference of adjustment method A, The adjustment methods of working pressure are not different in gender, age. B, Finding support of adjustment method is shown the difference to police constables in different marital condition, but the direct solving, adjusting sentiment, and withholding or evading is not shown the apparent difference. C, Different level of education isn’t affected adjustment method of police constables. D, The adjustment method of pressure is not affected by the seniority. Final, the analysis of working pressure and adjustment method When the police face formidable working pressure, most of them select positive methods such as direct solving, finding support, and adjusting sentiment. Less of them adopt negative adjustment methods such as withholding and evading.
