Among the assistance , Braille message is one important item inside the elevator for disabled people. This study tries to analysis the design criteria of Braille message in Canada and help to improve the Braille message in Taiwan. This study investigates 72 Braille message of elevator in Canada and Taiwan and then established the discrimination list between these two areas. Over documentary analysis and Delphi method, this study design a questionnaire 「The recognition and importance of Braille message of elevator in Canada and Taiwan」. This questionnaire using four aspects :the identification, operation, standardization and universalization and 19 demand factors as the weighted analysis factors analysis the demand of design quality with Quality Function Deployment (QFD) . The conclusions show the satisfaction of visual disability people in Taiwan is lower than in Canada. That means there are some improve items required about the Braille message in Taiwan: 1. First 3 demand quality: (1) The Braille message board cannot be rotated or turn over. (2) Braille message match operation (3) The Braille message board can be securely fastened 2. First 3 design quality” (1) Relative position of Braille message and operation button (2) (★1) and number 1exist at the same time (3) Avoiding wrong spelling and error contents This study can provide architects and designers as the reference of installation of Braille message ,and the modification of building code by government.
