Description
Summary:碩士 === 逢甲大學 === 水利工程與資源保育研究所 === 98 === In order to accommodate large vessels, reduce waiting time for berth and voyage time in port, Taichung Harbor Bureau has invested huge capital on dredging the main channels since 2000. The total sediment dredged amounted 2.02 million cubic meter in 2000, and had accumulated to 35 million cubic meter by end of 2008. The climax occurred in 2004 when it reached 10.3 million cubic meter. As the dredging operation continued, the water quality became deteriorating due to disturbance. Not until the operation ended did the water quality gradually stablize. The study was based on the tested result of sediment sampled from water/bottom area and land area by Taichung Harbor Bureau from 2002 to 2009. The multivariate statistical analysis was then adopted to study the degree of correlation and variation among the tested data. The analysis yielded that the suspended sediment concentration soard as the dredged sediment increased. After the dredging operation finished, the concentration dropped gradually. According to the factor analysis, there are 4 total loading variance factors for port basin including organic pollutant factor, dissolved solid factor, Eutrophication factor and instantaneous pollutant factor. The factor for basin in Taichung Port can be classified as organic pollutant factor. Therefore, the disturbance due to the dredging operation will not have immediate influnce on water qulity. In addition, there exists a high degree of correlation among different sediment samples from the bottom of the basin. According to the factor analysis, there are 3 total loading variance factors for botttom sediment including industrial pollutant factor, non-instant hazard pollutant factor and organic pollutant factor. The factor for bottom sediment in Taichung Port can be classified as industrial pollutant factor. Therefore, the disturbance due to the dredging operation will not have immediate influnce on water qulity. The pollutant originates mainly from the discharge outlet of rivers.
