碩士 === 輔仁大學 === 織品服裝學系 === 98 === The textile industry in Taiwan has crossed over the golden time of foreign exchange income from last decades. Following the time-change, the situation is declined gradually as the textile industry is running into the same concept as product life-cycle to go thru popular, abundant, faded & risky period. In early 90s, the government’s strategy is focused on the electric industry; hence, they do not have enough support to the traditional industry such as textile, and the entrepreneur has to work themselves without any official fiancial support, in order to turn the risk into opportunity, it is important not only to find a way to survive but also grow the business scale in the future.
In the past, the textile industry has been positioned as a traditional business, the past imagine of low-grade labor intensive work is the on that the young generation today is not willing to join, meanwhile, the elder generation is getting withered. The current issue is not only survival, but also the risk of industrial sustainability. Taiwan’s textile industry has reached a remarkable level in the global market place; take these Asian countries as an example: Taiwan’s product means quality assurance, although technology is slightly lagging behind Japan’s, however, our price is more competitive. Nowadays, the Taiwan textile industry is more concentrated on small to medium enterprises, most of them are following the traditional method, without having the vertical set-up like electric industry does. The impact from the recent global financial crisis, and the government’s hesitation to move forward into the international trading union strategy, make these elements for the textile entrepreneur’s situation even worse, and facing a
huge challenge that they have never met before. During this difficult time, they have used the advantage of a superior background in textile, along with the advanced knowledge of science and technology, to reduce the variation and competition among entrepreneurs, and to build up the collaboration and partnerships; to provide best service for the customer, the most important thing is the Taiwan textile industry to make a profit and achieve the win and win situation for the industry.
