The subjects of this research were the players, including males and females, in the senior high school handball teams in Taiwan. There were in all 17 teams, and 327 valid questionnaires were collected, making the valid response rate as high as 96 %. The questionnaire “Coaches’ leadership behaviors and team cohesion perceived by the handball players in senior high schools” was used as the research tool. According to the data collected from the questionnaires, descriptive statistics, Independent-Samples T Test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffe, and Pearson Product-moment Correlation were used for data analysis. The results of this research were as follows: Among the five aspects of coaches’ leadership behaviors perceived by the handball players in senior high schools, “training and instructing behaviors” got the highest scores 3.88, and “autocratic behaviors” got the lowest 2.43. Among the four aspects of team cohesion perceived by the handball players in senior high schools, “team adaptation” got the highest scores 3.99, and “interpersonal friendliness” got the lowest 3.47. The variance analysis of different background variables in the relationship between coaches’ leadership behaviors and team cohesion perceived by the handball players in senior high schools shows: Gender reached obvious standard in every aspect in perceived coaches’ leadership behaviors and reached obvious standard in the aspects of “interpersonal attraction”, “teamwork”, and “team adaptation” in team cohesion. Different grades reached obvious standard in every aspect of both perceived coaches’ leadership behaviors and team cohesion. The frequency of training reached obvious standard in the aspects of “caring behaviors”, “reward-giving behaviors”, and “democratic behaviors”, and reached obvious standard in none of the aspects in team cohesion. Being the starting players or not reached obvious standard in the aspects of “training and instructing behaviors”, “caring behaviors”, “reward-giving behaviors”, and “democratic behaviors”; “interpersonal attraction” and “team adaptation” in team cohesion. The way of getting along with coaches reached obvious standard in the aspects of “reward-giving behaviors” and “democratic behaviors”; “interpersonal attraction” in team cohesion. As to the correlation analysis of coaches’ leadership behaviors and team cohesion perceived by the handball players in senior high schools, the aspects of “training and instructing behaviors”, “caring behaviors”, “reward-giving behaviors”, and “democratic behaviors” in the coaches’ leadership behaviors and the team cohesion all reached obvious standard.
