Description
Summary:碩士 === 華梵大學 === 工業設計學系碩士班 === 98 === Though there are currently a lot of supplementary tools designed for the patients with functional limitation, few are used to help with the hygiene in daily care. A supplementary tool that meets the needs of the patient with functional limitation and his or her caregiver in daily hygiene can reduce the work load of health care routine. This study is divided into three stages: Stage 1 covers observation and interview. At this stage, observation, interview, and situation analytic method were conducted to analyze the needs of the caregiver and the patient with functional limitations. From the analysis, a design that can help patient with functional limitation in their daily health care and reduce the work load of the care giver was decided. Stage 2 deals with the prototyping of the hygiene supplementary tool. According to the design concept and framework of Stage 1, two prototypes were made. Physical model check for the hygiene supplementary tool was conducted where 30 pairs of patient and caregivers were asked to conduct the test. For the caregivers, after the use of hygiene supplementary tool, their physical work load was reduced. Among physical parts, the decrease of work load in the waist was the most significant, followed by the other parts like hand joints, muscle on the back, vertebra, shoulder and legs. The specially designed supplementary tool could save a lot of energy in changing diapers. For the patient with functional limitation, their feeling of discomfort was lowered after the use of the hygiene supplementary tool.
