This research aims to study the attitude and community consciousness of Machu residents in Machu Nagan and the development bring by tourism development, and further discuss the relationship between residents’ background factors and the development of tourism development. Trying to acknowledge what community residents’ prospect of tourism development? And what the juncture or dilemma are when developing tourism development? It’s crucial to have all residents’ participation, and all their opinions should be valued during the development. Following the procedure of the Community development and gather local people to establish an organization, we can have a better understanding about the tourism development.
Tourism is a complicated social phenomenon. The development of community tourism industry is affected not only by objective factors such as the supply of environment and natural resources, but also by the awareness and the will of participation of the community residents. In recent years, Community development is a social innovation movement, which is based on the existence and the awareness of community unity as a goal to follow, and through the community residents’ active participation in local public business to reach a common community agreement. By the strength of Community development and the tourism development, the solution for the development of community aims to the community tourism. Leading by the government policy, now in Machu, from the local government to the community village, everyone is looking forward to join the tourism development all their heart.
This research goes through the analysis of questionnaire enquiry under quantitative approach. The total amount of sent questionnaires is 400. The valid ones are 393. The percentage of retrieving valid questionnaire is 98.2. During the process of factor analysis, tree components are showed: community consciousness, residents’ attitude, and the influence of tourism development. Further, in order to proceed the analysis of description and hypothesis of data, the following methods are applied: descriptive statistics, factor analysis, Independent t-test, One-way ANOVA and correlation analysis.
Because of the inseparable relationship between community residents and tourism development, the residents share not only the high-quality public facilities brought by tourism development but also the practical economic benefit from tourists and the residents realized that the benefit of tourism development is also theirs. Therefore, the residents would be willing to cooperate with the policy related with tourism development and to improve, maintain the surroundings of their community. And most of all, the residents would show their hospitality spontaneously. This way, Machu tourism can stay long-lasting.
