碩士 === 美和技術學院 === 經營管理研究所 === 98 === Kien Giang is a province at South West pole of Vietnam, in Cuu Long delta. With diversity of ecosystem regions, Kien Giang Province has a lot of major potentiality to develop the multiple field economy. However, Kien Giang must face with disadvantages of using natural resources and pressure of development requirement. Social and economical development in recent years created many environmental problems including: decline of valuable ecosystem’s quality; changes of soil and water resource; pollution due to urbanization and industrialization; other environmental effects due to irrigation works, big socio-economic plans… After studying from “Research on present state and propose for environmental protection plan for Kien Giang province to the year 2015 and orientation to 2025”, I have some myself criticisms About quality of environment: The quality of soil environment is rather good because all the analysis results are in the limit. However, in comparision with before analysis, the soil has the signal of pollution. If in the future Kien Giang Province still keeps the producing, utilizing, and exploiting the soil ways as present, the concentration of heavy metals will increase higher and higher and become the main reason of soil pollution. Besides, the water environment has the signal of light organic pollution. Surface water pollution happens primarily at some places such as soaking jute, resident area, municipal drainage mains, small scale industrial zones, abattoirs,…Meanwhile, the quality of ground water is rather better than other regions in Kien Giang province. However, there are some problems such as little preservation, dispersal, and deep aquifer (150-200 m). Therefore, it is necessary to have proper plan for protecting and using soil long time. The air environment is also rather good. Only a few sites have some signals pollution, they are: odour from the abattoirs, cattle breeding farm; dust at main cross-roads, and noise at the place around Rach Gia town. About environmental sanitation: In general, the state of sanitation in Kien Giang province is bad. To solid waste, there is not any standard landfill or treatment system and waste classification programme. To domestic waste water, there is the gathered drainage system for the center of town but without in suburban which domestic as well as productive waste water is wasted into rivers and channels where people live. About knowledge of environmental protection: Currently, locals do not have environmentally consciousness. The quality of environment in industry, agriculture, and urban is happening complexly partly caused by activities of people. Basing on above knowledges, we forecast the changes of natural resources and environment toward 2025, indicate the emergency problems, and plan to solve the prior environmental problems.
