碩士 === 國立中興大學 === 水土保持學系所 === 98 === Most of rural communities located at the slopeland, which is vital areas need to be conserved in Taiwan. How to balance the construction and ecological conservation is an urgent issue. This study focused on the on-site investigation of people, culture, land, product and landscape at Liu-dong Community in Miao-li County. In addition, SWOT analysis is employed to explore the strength, weakness, opportunity and threat of the community for the reference of planning in the environmental creation. Results show that in the humanistic and industrial aspects: (1). problems of migrant, low birthrate and aging. (2).in attempt to reserve the traditional culture, however hardly can combine the diversification management in industry. In the landscape and ecologic aspects: (1) messy building and lack of public facilities. (2).good vegetation status (C=0.21). (3).water quality varies with sampling sites; river pollution index can reach 5. (4).steep sites, about 35.11 ha and occupied 11.2%, are concentrated at the southeast of the community; riparian with areas of 38.62 ha and occupied 12.41% should be conserved. (5).watershed of No 2 tributary occupied 39.33% showing the highest degree of tillage, the width of vegetated buffer strips should be placed enough to avoid river pollution of agricultural nonpoint source pollutants. Liu-dong Community is rich in terrain and/or landscape, good vegetation coverage, without calamity in debris disaster and lots of ponds. Ecological village with culture of hundred ponds can be created by combining the characteristics of natural assets and industrial culture.
