Compared to traditional industry & high-tech industry, the traditional industry has lower cost of goods and technical barriers but more market competitors. Almost all of manufacturers are focus on how to catch the orders but disregard products quality. This situation will cost low profit as well. In this report will discuss the plastic packaging and focus on cosmetic plastic containers. According to the plastic producing process will divide two parts to discuss 1st one is injection method and 2nd one is blowing method. For example: cap & cream jar both producing by injection machine, and bottles are producing by blowing machine. This research is going to talk about the characteristic of plastic quality such as size, weight, full capacity, torque, falling test, airtight, match, and appearance, etc. Identify the key factors affecting the quality, and then improve to reduce the cost of manufacturing and quality defect costs. Process capability indices can quantify process variation to help identify the key factors in helping resolve the problem, has been widely used in manufacturing and service industries. In this research, the production of blowing bottle is using the pursuit of Six Sigma quality management practices DMAIC steps, Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control combined with process capability indices and Taguchi, find out the optimum process parameters.
