Most of high-rise buildings need conduct the deep excavation during their construction. The diaphragm wall is the most popular facility that adopted for the soil retaining structure in Taiwan. However, many disasters related to the deep excavation are also relevant to the failure of the diaphragm wall. In this study the deflections of diaphragm walls acquired from field of a station of the Rapid Mass Transportation in Kaohsiung City are used for the investigation of the behavior of the diaphragm wall. In order to study the tendency of the deflection with the depth, the deflection of a diaphragm wall is separated into two parts, the upper part, Aa and the below part, Ab. The deflection of each part is normalized with the total deflection of the wall and then the normalized values are compared with those collected from the field. The result of the investigation show that exceptional points presented in the depth where the disaster had happened. Hence the exceptional points can be taken as the symptom of the disaster. As the disaster happened the rate of the deflection in lower part is higher than that in the upper part of the wall. Jing-Wen Chen 陳景文 2010 學位論文 ; thesis 123 zh-TW
